Dutch multinational conglomerate corporation

Asset operational efficiency and predictive maintenance

The client is a Dutch multinational conglomerate corporation that has been in the market for the last 130 years. It is headquartered mainly in Amsterdam. The client was formerly one of the largest electronics companies in the world but is currently focused on the area of health technology, having divested from other divisions.

The customer faced the challenge of implementing a disposition solution of previous-generation assets while delivering innovative solutions to Fortune 500 clients throughout 30+ locations worldwide.

The client has multiple data centres across different geos/ countries, and they envisioned refreshing their IT infrastructure, including their storage platform and associated cabling across all of those data centres. The client wanted a single, global process to dispose of an end-secure life, data-bearing assets. Other vital drivers were minimizing the risk of reputational damage from data loss, misusing licensed software, sustainability, and income through responsible IT recycling.

The client was looking for a global technology asset disposition solutions partner who could provide a comprehensive, integrated solution for its needs. Their search criteria for partners were successful companies that could consistently provide professional off/onsite support answers and technology relocation and disposal services. Their partner would also need to have a reputation for executing projects on time and on the budget in a cost-efficient & environmentally friendly way.

The main objectives were to bring transparency in the process, expert and professional service and good communication throughout the lifecycle. Moreover, data protection was paramount as data loss would have been a loss to their brand name. They were actively looking for a personalized (customized) solution which is effective according to the compliance and regulation policies of the particular regions.

IT Asset Disposition

Styxtech Secure IT Asset Disposition (SITAD) ensures all the client needs have been addressed and handled accurately. After Styx’s consultation, the client could finalize their actual requirement with a clear picture. Styx has assisted the client in setting an action plan for the whole activity. Our team has provided them with end-to-end assistance in covering all the aspects of IT Asset Disposition.

Styxtech has carried out the preliminary audit trail at all locations to kick-start the project and understand the exact situation. We have recommended our onsite and offsite capabilities for data erasure/destruction or migration from on-premises to their respective clouds.

Dismantling media services, including data-bearing media and hard drives, was carried out under client supervision. Step-to-step information updates were shared with the client on a timely basis, which further helped the client track the progress status of the activity against defined checkpoints. We have used various tools such as Blancco Drive Eraser for wiping out the data from the hard drives and tested the same. During the whole process, we adhered to ensure that we were stuck to a Zero Data Loss policy.

We have carried out various inspections in terms of verifying the asset capabilities. The required assets have been treated accordingly. Post Triage, if the assets are in an end-of-life phase, then the decision has been taken depending on the condition. The corresponding support has been disassembled and processed for recycling, or parts have been claimed for reusability.

Nevertheless, we have disposed of the assets in an eco-friendly manner which did not end up being dumped in the seas or landfill sites. On behalf of the client, Styx has repaired and refurbished other remaining assets post a proper assessment and quality check. This the asset has been introduced to our value

A Valuable Difference:
