Largest electronics companies in the world
End –to- End Data Center Migration to improve the system performance and manage the cost
Platform Modernization to enhance the customer relationships
The Client was a Dutch multinational conglomerate corporation that has been in the market for the last 130 years and is headquartered in Amsterdam. The client was one of the largest electronics companies in the world and is now focusing on other divisions like healthcare technology.
The client envisioned refreshing their IT infrastructure, including the storage platform and associated cabling for their data centres across geographies. Their old tenant's infrastructure was required to be standardised. There was a pressing need to relocate the entire client office and warehouses with tight schedules.
The client was looking for a partner who can handle the migration End-to-End globally across data centres located in Europe, APAC and North American Regions. Key objectives of the migration were:
- Understand the client's current maturity and assess before implementation to mitigate the risk
- Implement a new synergy platform that is scalable and elastic
- Remediate data centres to eco-friendly rooms and reduce the current number of cabinets
- Eliminate redundant UPS and re-run a new SWA cable to provide an N+1 system
- Minimal impact on the ongoing operations
- Reduce the security threats by introducing multiple tiers of security.
- Prepare assortment of details at each stage and manage the implementation within the allocated budget
The modernized platform to allow the client to efficiency scale, diminish security threats, remain competitive and enhance the customer relationships.
Design & Deploy modern Data center infrastructure
Styx was one of the trusted partners for the Client to do the Data Center migration. We have assessed the Client's requirements and proposed a complex architecture that best fits their DC IT infrastructure refreshment and transformation.
We assisted through the seamless journey, from procuring the assets such as network devices that include switches, hubs, routers, LAN cables, Access points, etc., to carrying out a profound discovery to assess the Client's maturity by uncovering gap between their HLD/LLD in the current environment.
Our project management team helped the Client to create a high-level project plan with a defined scope, a detailed breakout of tasks and timelines with a window that has less impact on the Client's current production/operations.
Styx assisted the Client's team remotely with all the device setup and configurations End-to-End across all the client locations. The transformation also includes local backup of the devices along with racking and stacking new devices on the rack and layers of configuration ( Physical Layer, Device management, Security Configuration, Routing Configurations and Advanced configurations)
The compute and storage architecture helped the Client to virtualize the environment post configurations and test the stability to migrate the network from old to new devices.
The structured cable management proposed by Styx helped the Client to set up the cables along with dressing and coating and could Install & monitor the cables timely with the help of field workers, connectivity managers, and engineers. Cables are carefully migrated to New devices and upgraded as required. The entire process is documented along with the changes.
Styx proposed a test plan to ensure no data loss or impact on the Client's Services, which the IT teams performed remotely. This improved the client's performance considerably.
A Valuable Difference
Styx helped the Client to efficiently scale, diminish security threats, remain competitive and enhance customer relationships.
- Manage Costs: The cost of the ownership was considerably reduced by ~10%
- Improved Security: All data centres are designed with security in mind. The Client now has robust physical and digital security measures in place to protect the Client's data from theft, unauthorized access, and natural disasters
- Greater Reliability: Data Centers have redundant power supplies and backup generators to keep Clients' data safe in the event of natural power outages. We have carefully designed the Client's Data centres to be reliable and efficient. They also have strict environmental controls to protect the equipment from dust, water, and temperature extremes
- Increased Productivity: The centralized monitoring system provides the Client with 24/7 access to their data and manages the resources
- Increased Storage Capacity: The Client has the infrastructure in place to scale up storage capacity quickly and easily without compromising on security or performance.
